HAVEN Coffee
76 St Mary Rd, London E17 9RE https://www.havencoffee.co.uk/ HAVEN Coffee is a social enterprise that runs pop-up coffee shops for events, helping provide barista training to refugees as well as promoting refugee communities through the arts. I first encountered their coffee in the gift shop of the Migration Museum, a project that shows the benefits of migration to the UK, as well as the trials and tribulations it has involved throughout history. Their main shop sits just off the A112 in Walthamstow, not quite a part of the trendy Village area just up the road, and I made it my mission to drop in once moving to the area. A tiny little cubby hole of a coffee shop that is engulfed by an imposing mural outside, it’s a cute stop off for candied, herby sweet coffee that has something of a soothing medicinal quality to it. HAVEN really speaks to the personality and makeup of Walthamstow, compact and yet sparking big things with its work. A fantastic place to pick up a pick-me-up and creating positive change with it.
