I’m again in London, sitting at the back of a coffee shop on Drury Lane. Redemption Roasters are an interesting proposition, where it works within the prison system, and with prison leavers, to train those who are incarcerated in roasting and barista services so that they might find employment once rehabilitated, possibly even in one of their 13 coffee shops that dot London. I’m presently taking up station at the back of their shiny, two floored location in the heart of theatre-land, with my laptop open, because I’m waiting for a friend. The plan is to spend the first part of the day writing/working and chatting, then go for dinner before heading to the theatre. 

I order a chocolatey oat latte, with hints of caramel that create an almost praline texture in the mouth as I sit and sip, and listen and share the trials and tribulations of modern living. The space itself is large and inviting, with a crisp aesthetic that feels very sleek with its pour over bar and selection of pastries to complement its meticulous brunch menu. Open until 5.30pm, it’s an ideal spot for freelancers or job hunters to while away the hours with its fast wifi also contributing to this. The one issue being that plug sockets are in limited supply so make sure you charge up your electronics before you leave home.
