1 Rosebank Villas, High St, Walthamstow, London E17 7FZ Perky Blenders is perhaps aptly named, with a nod to a semi-fictional Brummie gang, given that it seems to be the coffee racket that runs Walthamstow. I’m not saying that they don’t allow others to move in, there’s plenty of of roasters, cafes and beans from other sources floating about the region, it’s just that they have all the prime spots. On one side of Walthamstow Central tube station is a large unit that sells beans, blends and equipment, a really noticeable spot for those who first arrive to the area and somewhere I’ve yet to visit. It’s roastery is just down the road in Leyton and the beans seem to crop up in most cafes around. Billboards along the market mark out its tiny walkway kiosk that picks up those that wander between the bus station and the High Street, and it’s here I stop to top up between shopping trips for the new flat. The barista cheerily chats away about moving into the area, after spotting my bags of bits and bobs, as he whips up an oat latte of rich, smooth and creamy taste. I happily sip this down on my way back to the car, carrying picture frames and pointed plants in one hand and coffee in the other. Honestly, Walthamstow has a lot to offer and great coffee seems to be in abundance.
