Dudley’s, 145 Wood St, Walthamstow, London E17 3LX The light wood panelling gives me flashbacks to Norway. A neighbourhood cafe-restaurant, it just personifies Nordic charm with its laid-back interior that couples chic-modern vibes with speciality coffee but it’s firmly rooted in East London coffee culture rather than anything more Scandinavian. It’s the undeniable roundness of Dark Arts coffee, the Dalston-based caffeine dealers that were one of the first roasters I ever fell in love with, that comes from my flat white. A rich almond sensation oozes through the sweetness of the oat milk providing a king of chocolate marzipan play upon the tongue making it a delightful aside from our other activities. We’ve just stopped in after shopping for plants and I unsaddle myself of flora before taking a table by the door and warming myself in the window, now out of the wind. Apparently it’s a community hub that spins records in the evenings and serves as a yoga space in summer, and it’s easy to see how this appealing space could welcome more than just weary shoppers for a caffeine boost.
