I’ve long been aware of Bristol’s coffee scene and Little Victories ekes out an existence serving up roasts from Clifton Coffee Roasters, a business linked with the heart and soul of the city and somewhere I’ve ordered coffee from before. I had forgotten all about it until bumbling through the doors of this co-ordinated, warehouse-esque location.
Bright and breezy, filled with plant-life and all manner of brewing equipment it has a hip yet elegant vibe to it and the coffee has a deep, wine-like resonance that makes walking in the warm air particularly pleasant as I sip from my cup and find myself enraptured by the beauty of it all and enjoying the taste of spectacular coffee on the tongue.

The tiled serving area has a smattering of baked goods to peruse, something I resist for the time being, and a friendly atmosphere of knowingness that is self assured as a place of excellent beverages to work and play from.

Located nearly bang in the middle of Park Street, Coffee Under Pressure is ideal for those heading down from the art gallery or up from College Green looking for some caffeination. Gloriously chic, it has an air of Nordic coffee shops with it’s sleek, wooden furniture and shiny chrome fittings. The light, airy and modern interior juxtaposes nicely with the Grade II listed building it sits within, as we perch upon stools that face out the window looking down the hill and onto the green, allowing you to observe the comings and goings that central Bristol caters for.

Cakes, bakes and sweet treats line the front serving area as you can choose from a variety of drip filter and espresso based drinks. I opt for an oat latte that’s smooth and rich, whilst also sneaking a swig of the sprightly, light long black that my partner ordered to go with her chocolate croissant. What I didn’t notice was that our host picking up a bag of beans so she could continue serving the same great cup of coffee throughout the weekend and, needless to say, I certainly wasn’t disappointed.

Bristol is known for having one of the best coffee scenes around the UK and Coffee Under Pressure stakes its claim firmly at the top of this hierarchy. It’s an excellent place to start our mini-tour of the South West and sets me up well for a day on the road.
